AI-driven yield forecasting, drone-based O&M inspections, and SCADA-integrated remote monitoring improve asset performance materially. Predictive maintenance algorithms reduce unplanned downtime. Automated soiling-loss detection and robotic panel cleaning lower O&M costs in solar. Digital twin simulations optimize wind farm layout and turbine control, lifting annual energy production by 2–5% on existing assets.
Natural gas peakers and large hydro remain direct competitors for reliable dispatchable power. Nuclear is a long-cycle rival favored for baseload. Coal-to-RE transition policies displace incumbent thermal capacity. Within renewables, green hydrogen, offshore wind, and small modular reactors represent adjacent or emerging competitive pathways vying for capital and policy attention.
Solar PV leads globally and in India on cost, deployment speed, and investment volume. Monocrystalline TOPCon modules now dominate new procurement. Adani Green and ReNew Power lead India's utility-scale IPP segment by operational capacity and pipeline, backed by large balance sheets and long-term PPAs.
The global renewable energy market is widely assessed as a multi-trillion-dollar opportunity over the coming decade, with annual investment consistently exceeding USD 500 billion. India's RE sector attracts tens of billions annually; capacity addition targets, green hydrogen ambitions, and storage mandates continue to expand the addressable market materially year on year.
