Ohmium

Ohmium International is a US-headquartered green hydrogen company specialising in the design and manufacture of proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers. Founded to accelerate the clean hydrogen economy, it targets industrial, mobility, and energy storage applications. Ohmium is notably one of the few electrolyser manufacturers with significant production operations established in India.

Ohmium manufactures modular, scalable PEM electrolysers branded as the Hy Series. Its technology edge lies in high-pressure hydrogen output, compact stack design, and modularity allowing MW-scale deployment from standardised units. PEM electrolysers offer fast response times and compatibility with intermittent renewable energy sources, making them well-suited for green hydrogen production.

Ohmium operates one of the largest dedicated PEM electrolyser gigafactory facilities in Asia, located in Bengaluru, India. The plant is designed for significant gigawatt-scale annual production capacity, positioning the company as a globally relevant manufacturer with cost advantages from Indian operations.

Ohmium has active commercial presence in India, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. In India, it engages with large industrial buyers, PSUs, and renewable developers. Globally, it targets green hydrogen projects across refining, fertilisers, mobility, and energy storage, leveraging its cost-competitive India manufacturing as a differentiator.

Ohmium integrates automated manufacturing processes in its Bengaluru gigafactory to ensure consistent stack quality, reduce labour dependency, and lower per-unit cost. Digital quality management systems, machine vision inspection, and data-driven production monitoring enable high throughput. These capabilities allow rapid scaling while maintaining electrolyser performance and reliability standards critical for MW-scale deployments.

Ohmium occupies a distinctive niche as one of the few PEM electrolyser manufacturers with gigafactory-scale production in Asia. It competes on cost, modularity, and India-manufacturing advantage, though it remains smaller in installed base than European incumbents like Nel and ITM Power.
