India's dedicated green-energy NBFC — the go-to lender for RE projects.
IREDA (Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency) is a Government of India-owned non-banking financial institution under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. It serves as a specialised climate finance vehicle, channelling concessional and commercial debt to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and clean technology projects across India.
IREDA's mission is to promote, develop, and finance renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, accelerating India's low-carbon transition. It supports India's national climate commitments including 500 GW non-fossil capacity by 2030 and net-zero by 2070.
Headquartered in New Delhi, IREDA operates pan-India through regional offices and project offices. It finances developers, state utilities, PSUs, and private sector players across solar, wind, hydro, and storage sectors. As a listed public-sector enterprise, it also mobilises capital from domestic and international markets.
Roles are shown generally — verify the current appointees on the agency's own site.
Developers, IPPs, and corporates can approach IREDA directly through its regional or head offices with a project proposal and technical-financial package. Engagement typically begins with a preliminary appraisal. For strategic positioning, structuring your pitch, or navigating IREDA's appraisal criteria, a 1:1 consultation with Sudarshan Karweer is strongly recommended.
