GIZ (Germany)

GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) is Germany's federal development agency implementing international cooperation projects on behalf of the German government and other clients. It deploys technical expertise, capacity building, and financial advisory to support sustainable development, climate action, and energy transition across emerging and developing economies.

GIZ's mission is to foster sustainable global development by delivering effective solutions in economic development, energy transition, climate resilience, and governance. It prioritises aligning partner-country policies with NDC commitments, scaling renewables, and enabling green finance ecosystems in line with Germany's and EU's climate goals.

GIZ maintains a large country office in New Delhi with regional presence across Indian states. It works closely with Indian ministries (MNRE, MoEFCC, MoPNG), state governments, and regulatory bodies. In Asia, it operates across Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, focusing on energy transition, climate finance, and urban resilience.
