The world's largest dedicated climate fund — mitigation and adaptation grants & concessional loans.
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world's largest dedicated climate finance institution, established under the UNFCCC. It channels concessional public and private capital to developing nations for low-emission, climate-resilient development. With over $13 billion pledged, it bridges the gap between climate ambition and bankable project execution.
GCF's mission is to limit global temperature rise and strengthen climate resilience in vulnerable developing countries. It prioritises mitigation and adaptation projects across energy, land use, water, cities, and ecosystems, with a 50:50 balance between mitigation and adaptation financing.
GCF operates in India through accredited national and international entities including NABARD, SBI, and global MDBs. It funds large-scale renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate resilience programmes. India is a priority recipient country under the GCF portfolio, with multiple approved projects spanning solar, sustainable agriculture, and urban resilience across states.

Developers and CXOs can access GCF capital by partnering with a GCF-accredited entity such as NABARD or SBI, or by seeking direct accreditation. Projects must align with national climate plans (NDCs). Engaging India's NDA early is critical for project nomination and approval.
