Asia-Pacific's development bank — a cornerstone lender for India's energy transition.
ADB Climate Capital: India's Most Underutilised Funding Window
ADB's $100B climate finance target by 2030 is real capital, not rhetoric — but Indian project developers are leaving it on the table. ADB increasingly backs blended-finance structures: concessional first-loss + commercial debt. If your storage or green hydrogen project has a creditworthy offtaker and 10MW+ scale, ADB co-financing can slash your cost of debt by 200-300bps. Stop chasing only domestic banks. Structure bankably, then knock on Manila.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a multilateral development finance institution owned by 68 member countries, headquartered in Manila, Philippines. It mobilises capital for sustainable development across Asia-Pacific, with a strong focus on climate finance, clean energy, infrastructure, and poverty reduction — acting as both lender and convener for public and private sector projects.
ADB's mission is a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia-Pacific. It has committed to making 75% of its committed projects climate-relevant by 2030 and targets $100 billion in cumulative climate finance for 2019–2030, with energy transition and adaptation as core pillars.
ADB maintains a large resident mission in New Delhi and operates across Indian states through government counterparts. In India, it finances urban infrastructure, renewable energy, transport, and social sectors. It works closely with central ministries and state governments, deploying sovereign and non-sovereign lending, and supports private sector clean energy developers through its private sector window.

Private developers and CXOs can engage ADB through its Private Sector Operations Department for direct non-sovereign financing. Project developers should approach ADB's India Resident Mission with bankable proposals. Co-financing, technical assistance grants, and viability gap support are also accessible via state or central government channels for public-private projects.
